This website is intended to detail the district instructional plans and health & safety protocols for this school year and aid parents and guardians in making the best decisions for their students. Lorena ISD is working within the guidelines of the Governor, the Texas Education Agency, and county & local officials to provide the best possible education to students for the 2020-21 school year.
On July 28, 2020, the State Attorney General issued an opinion stating that school closure decisions should be made locally by school district officials. Later that evening, Waco-Mclennan County Health District rescinded its public health order that prohibited in-person instruction until September 8, 2020. As a result, Lorena ISD will follow our board approved 2020-2021 School Calendar with a couple of changes. Due to all the changes the past couple of weeks, we are making August 13 & 14 teacher in-service days. The first day for instruction for students will be August 17th.
Lorena ISD will offer our parents 2 choices: Traditional On-Campus Instruction or At-Home Remote Instruction. Both traditional on-campus and remote students will start school on August 17th. Online Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is open and runs through August 7th. It would help the district plan for you to complete this process as quickly as possible. If you have questions or would like to make changes, please contact your student’s campus registrar.
As part of registration, parents will be asked to decide whether their student will be participating in remote or in-person instruction once we are allowed to open the campuses. Parents will be able to re-evaluate their decision at the end of each grading period.
