Math Department

Our main resource for math at LMS is the Saxon Curriculum. Supplemental materials will be used in all classes to ensure that all TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) are covered.

Students can expect to have a math assignment everyday. Test generally follow every fourth Saxon lesson. TAKS Benchmark test will be given twice each year to identify possible weak objectives that need to be reinforced.

Grading percentages are the same for all LMS students with the exception of Algebra I 8 th graders. All grades are based 50% on daily grades and 50% major grades. In Algebra I grades are based 60% on daily grades and 40% daily. The weight in Algebra I is more consistent with the grades of Algebra students in the high school.
