Bus Drivers needed at LISD
There are several step to follow in becoming an LISD bus driver.
- Contact Peggy Clark, Transportation Coordinator to ask for training materials.
- Complete a RBEC transportation application and turn it in to Peggy Clark.
- Contact Aline White to get an appointment for the fingerprint requirement. If you have already completed this requirement with LISD, skip # 3.
- Pass the B-CDL written test ‘Passenger and S endorsement’ (if you have at least a B-CDL with a ‘Passenger and S-Endorsement, skip this step).
- Study the ‘study tests’ and the “Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook ”.
- Contact Diane Daly at 756-0406 and arrange for driving under her supervision. She will tell you when you are ready to take the ‘driving test’.
- Arrange to take the bus driving test at the DPS office Waco.
- Contact Jeane Gauer at 756-0406 and she will set you up for the 20 hour certification class.
- Pass the certification class. An 8-hour refresher class is required every 3 years.
- Contact Scott McClain to be listed for random drug testing . A physical and drug testing are also required at this time.
- CPR training is required for special education bus drivers, coaches and extracurricular staff. This is not required for route drivers but is available at no charge.
