Child Nutrition Program

Lorena ISD recognizes the important role that good nutrition plays in a child’s health as well as their academic success. We are committed to providing well-balanced breakfasts and lunches as well as nutritional information to help students learn to make healthy food choices as part of the formation of good lifelong habits.

The Lorena ISD Child Nutrition department adheres to the Texas Public School Nutrition Policies and HACCP standards put forth by the USDA. We strive continually to increase our knowledge in the areas of child nutrition and food safety to be a food service operation second to none that upholds this school district’s standards of excellence.

Here are just a few of the healthier choices offered to LISD students:

  • Fresh fruit and/or vegetables are offered daily at all campuses.
  • French fries are oven baked.
  • All cookies are reduced fat.
  • Increased offerings of “home cooked” meals.
  • Choice of Fat-free chocolate and 1% white milk at the primary campus.
  • The elementary, middle and high school campuses have taken on the “new look of school milk” and now offer 1% chocolate and 2% white milk in the plastic bottles.

Please feel free to contact our department anytime at 254-857-8909. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your children.
